RED SQUIRREL
These are one of my favourite mammals, unfortunately they under seige from an American import - the Grey Squirrels. Our native Red Squirrels do have some strongholds in various places acorss the British Isles but are more often associated to places in the north like the Scottish Highlands which is where these set of photos were taken. Reds are also prone to disease such as squirrel pox virus.

Formby near Liverpool used to be a great place in the UK to see the Red Squirrels but unfortunatley they have reduced in number drastically due to the squirrel pox virus, and are much harder to see at this location. There is estimated to be only 150,000 left in the UK.
